The times
(from diary and letters)
Raymond Wergan writes from Devon to alert us to a shameless marketing ploy by Bloomsbury. The children's
fantasy Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling is so popular with adults that the book has been reissued
"with a different cover" and at "the grown-up price of pounds 6.99" - two pounds dearer than the origanal edition. He continues:
"While regretting the passing of the plain brown paper wrapper, I wonder if there are other examples of seasonal exploitation
of the older generation?"
