A "teaser card" holding clues to the plot of the next Harry Potter novel has sold for £28,680.

This is almost six times its £5,000 reserve price.

The card, written by JK Rowling, was bought by a private American collector at Sotheby's in London.

All the money is going to charity.

An internet group which organised a worldwide whip-round offered just over £15,000.
