It is being billed as the film phenomenon of the decade. But, as this illustration shows, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is also set to be one of the most commercially exploited movies ever made.
 
Author J.K. Rowling has said she is nervous about the merchandising deals associated with her boy wizard, who makes his screen debut next month.
 
Nevertheless, the Daily Mail has learned of around 100 spin-off products, many of them approved under licence from makers Warner Bros in deals worth millions of pounds.
 
Parents can expect requests for such peculiarities as the Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets CD set, priced £42.99, or the Nimbus 2000 Broomstick at £39.99.
 
Alternatively, children may be clothed in Harry Potter pyjamas before closing their Harry Potter curtains and climbing under their Harry Potter duvet covers.
 
To invest in all the items on offer, parents will find themselves having forked out more than £1,000. Toymaker Mattel has paid millions to Warner Bros for the right to sell a huge range of toys and games linked to the young wizard. A spokesman for the firm said: ' We are expecting the Harry Potter toys to be this year's Christmas number one'
